Local traditions – Festa di Sant’Antonio, 18th edition

18° Festa di San AntonioFesta di Sant’Antonio, 11-18 June 2016

Discover the mix of secular tradition and religious feast in Castello district.

The Festa di San Antonio has come to its 18th edition. It mixes the secular party to the catholic procession through the calli of the parish of San Francesco della Vigna (13th June). It is organized by the “Associazione San Francesco della Vigna“, founded in 1998 by some local business owners, nowadays composed by private people, to promote and spread the old local traditions of the neighborhood.

Every evening, from 7:00pm, you will have the opportunity to taste traditional recipes like Bigoi in salsa (noodles with anchovies), Pasta al sugo di peoci (pasta with mussels), Lasagne, Frittura mista con polenta (fried fishes with polenta) and many others. All accompanied by local music groups and nice people.

There is as well the opportunity to attend a guided tour to the ancient church of San Francesco della Vigna – inside among other beautiful works there is the wonderful “Enthroned Madonna and Saints” by Giovanni Bellini – with a registered tour guide for the price of 5.00 euros (part of them will be used for charity purposes): meeting point in front of the main entrance of the church at 7:00pm, minimum and maximum number of people applies to the group.
